Shade Structures

Many customers wonder what the differences are between shade structures, patio covers, cabanas, arbors, gazebos, pergolas and enclosures.  Well, it’s actually quite simple!

SHADE STRUCTURES are any larger covering that provides shade but does not repel water.  Shade structures are normally composed of vinyl, cedar or aluminum.

A PATIO COVER is water repellent and normally composed of cedar, aluminum, vinyl or a combination of any of the three.  For the majority of our patio covers, we typically use a vinyl sub-frame with an aluminum top.  This works well for someone requiring water deflection.
